Nigeria: Chams Gets ISO 9000 Certification Endorsement

Chams Nigeria Plc, a foremost indigenous information technology company with specialisation in plastic card technologies and electronic payment solutions has secured the ISO 9,000 certification.

ISO 9,000 is a family of standards for quality management systems maintained by the International Organisation for Standardisation and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies. Some of the requirements for ISO 9001 include a set of procedures that cover all key processes in monitoring processes to ensure they are effective keeping adequate records.

Chams is renowned to be at the forefront of technological innovations in Nigeria

According to the head, Corporate Affairs, Chams Nigeria, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria after a thorough scrutiny of the systems, and processes of Chams Nigeria Plc, has certified the company qualified.

He said a formal certification ceremony is scheduled to hold at the Muson Centre, in Lagos today.

"This Certification by SON is a further attestation to the relentless pioneering spirit of Chams Nigeria Plc," he said.

Chams is currently undergoing a recapitalisation process and is reputed to have pioneered several technologies in Nigeria some of which include, first local company to offer PC maintenance service in Nigeria and also the first local company to offer wide area networking service in Nigeria

The firm conceptualised and set up what is today known as Valucard Nigeria Plc and the first local company to offer card technology service in Nigeria

Chams issued the first successful sets of national ID card in Nigeria, designed and built the biggest and most modern card personalisation plant in the world located in Abuja, Nigeria. It also produced 52 million cards in eight weeks for a national project (INEC) first of its kind anywhere in the world.

Chams is currently engaged in the nationwide deployment of her multi-application and multi-functional terminal named ChamsAccess Service.
