MJ first c'est normal ;-) !

All Hails to the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul !

...If there's one thing we could not argue about when it comes to the now despicable, morose, hypersexual, superficial & materialistic abyssinal state in which Black Musical art form has sunk into, I'd gladly reckon Mary J Blige (along with a very few selected R&B artists, my Man D'Angelo, Dave Hollister, Anthony Hamilton, Sista-girl Angie Stone & that sassy-brassy chick Erika Badhu ) as the remaining ones standing out of the crowds showing hopeful signs that all are not totally lost.

...Ive had a listening session of her "Breakthrough" CD & I did enjoy all the cuts but my favourite gotta be the track#15 "ALONE" featuring Dave Young.

...& in all fairness, apart from those aforementioned above I do not really see any of those "Fake Candid Pop" & "wanna-be songbirds" pseudo-Artists bringing some sort of erotic intensity fused with spiritual sensitivity in their craft..........But Mary Jay-Blige is an exception to the rules; Awww my good old Lord, Baby-girl could brilliantly sing her guts off. She embodies the real meaning of modern day Soul Music: Been through a lot of drama ( K-CI ci, one-fourth member of the 90's supergroup JODECI dumping her after impregnating her; recovering from her alcoholism addiction, etc....)

... There's something enticing & powerful about her voice that could easily melt the heart of the most hardened prisoners in Death Row or yet again make the tough-looking Brothas on the block break into tears.

...Mary-Jay is the "most" truth out there when it comes to contemporary R&B, & no one can match her talent.

Beyonce? (oh please!); Faith Evans? (yeah whatever!); Mariah Carey? (just give me a break!); Alicia Keys? (she ain't quite yet there!); Jennifer Lopez (Lol, I could even sing better than her after shouting from a Cameroon football team drawing with Egypt & subsequently not making it into the world cup phase in Germany 2006 ).

....Back to the topics at hand, the R&B junks that you hear played in heavy rotation today is absolutely boring. As for my tastes, the joints I mostly have on my CD Changer are OLDIES (old soul music) & even though Im still a young adult in my 20's & judging by Today's standard I might be considered an outcast, Im so hooked on the likes of Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, Ntume, Ohio Players, Bobby Womack, T.Haddaway, Billy Paul, David Ruffin, E.Kendricks, the 4 steps, the 4 tops, Commodores, Jackie Wilson, Marvelettes, James Brown, S.Wonder, Main ingredient, Black Ivory, the Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Dramatics, Stylistics, Percy Sledge, Whispers, Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Intruders, Persuaders & the list goes on & on....

......now these, for all you beautiful Folks wanting to tune into some good Ole' music you could make love to your partner, go to the mall, Fnac or any records store & cop any of these, & I promise Y'all under blue-sky that you won't regret your money & feel short-changed.

....All hails to the queen of Hip-Hop & now that's a crown well deserved.

----------One Love-One Life, good looking out Grioo.com!

This is your boy LeNeg'Penda & Hyde-Park in the Bulding......Like y'all didn't know huh?
