From what Im reading it looks like you actually attended that saturday night party.
...At least one dude here who did not miss out on opportunities of enjoying his Saturday night.
....How did that "golden years of HipHop " stuff go down? Please spit us some real LENGHTY INFOS [as the one you gave previously came out is too short ]!
On a side note, did they play ALL CITY joints [they are advertised on the flyer], I remembered these Brooklyn thoroughbreds made a few buzz around '98 or '99 with that DJ Premier's produced track called named "all city true!", even though their LP couldnt follow through.
...What else did they play? Da Brat's "Funkdafied"? Bay Area's Souls of Mischief was off the chain, so was ILL ALL Skratch [they had this oustanding cut "where's my homies? "]; those X-scape ladies were tight too back in the day; what about them Mexican dudes Bow Wow Wow.
...It seems like back in the days, artists were coming with qualitative tunes, nowadays the music industry is filled with crap, junk & politics. Im still a young male in my twenties but I consider myself OLD SCHOOL Brotha, because I can't stand the garbage these rappers are putting out today. All that "blinging " mentality is a fad to me, HipHop is watered down.

Brother, among the old school sounds often played by the DJs, I can quote Gangstarr's " Just To Get A Rep " & " Full Clip " (among others ), Blackmoon's " We Got the Props " , Run DMC's " Whatcha Gonna Do " & " Down With The King " , KRS-One's " Sound Of Da Police " & " Step Into A World ", Some sounds from Nas's " Illmatic " and so on ...
As for Old School R&B, I can quote
Aaliyah's " Back & Forth " , Bobby Brown's " Don't Be Cruel " , Montell Jordan's " This Is How We Do It " ,
SWV's " I'm So Into You ", Wrekx-N-Effect's " Rump Shaker " , R.Kelly 's " She's Got That Vibe ", Christopher Williams's " I'm Dreamin " and so on .
So, if you got some time, don't hesitate to go over there ...
If you really love Old School Hip Hop & R&B, you won't waste your time . |

.......for sharing those infos (& not leaving my questions unanswered) & posting warm comments on the past week-end festive events, that's very much appreciated.
...It's funny how all those artists you stated, [to the exception of this Chris William dude], I remembered humming along to their tunes; be it in a rapping or singing tone. I used to master all lyrics, thanks to my triune brain, I guess.
...I entirely share your issues "when you aired out the DJs bumping the same tracks over & over". It kind of kill the thrill & the mood on the dance floor, & on top of that you most likely end up feeling like being "$shortchanged".
...As far as the HipHop clubbing scene goes, Ive definitely called my quits. I dont hang out a lot out there as I used to & It's a lot SAFER too, since there's always some lunatic folks looking for some bullcrap excuse to start dramas [ it could stem from a dispute about girls; a stare; a verbal exchange; a drink spilled onto someone's dress becasuse.....Anything goes really! These young AFROS acting out wild & irrationally ]. That's why Im not really into the "party" thing anymore, it just doesnt worth the risk, things are just too unpredictable.......but next time I go overseeas ( France), I'll give it a try, just to see how folks (Paris & its suburbs) grooving.

" HAVIN' FUN " . Yes . Brothers r RESPECTFUL over there . As 4 Sisters, when they don't wanna dance or be picked up, they just say NO in a RESPECTFUL & SINCERE MANNER ... Something I did not see when I was at an Afro-Caribbean party on the 11th arrondissement of
Paris (The ONLY ONE PARTY I ATTENDED TO since my return in
Paris ) .
But I understand now : I DON'T LOOK LIKE AN AFRO-CARIBBEAN ... Yes, Brother .
As soon as you know that, there's no longer time to waste . Yet if you got some, don't hesitate . You told me you wanted to visit " Overseas France " ( The West Indies precisely ), didn't you ?? So, do your thing .
